It wasn't easy manufacturing overalls in the 1930s. But through true Aussie grit, David K. Laidlaw built a company that flourished even through the Depression of the '30s. His entrepreneurial spirit oversaw the company's change of name to Yakka (taken from the Aboriginal word for hard work). The name has now entered the Aussie vernacular and has become synonymous with endurance, strength and pure Aussie sweat.

With typical Hard Yakka the company grew steadily through the 20th century, employing 1300 staff nationally. Yakka has been maufacturing clothing for over 60 years, with the strongest commitment to quality, we will guarantee all of our garments against faulty materials and workmanship.

But as you might expect, claims are few and far between.

Yakka is accredited with the ISO 9002 quality system standard, and all garments manufactured comform to the Australian Standard for Industrial Clothing (AS 2919 - 1987).

All Yakka footwear styles exceed Australian standard AS 2210.2 for all prescribed tests, including impact resistance for steel caps, oil resistance and abrasion co-efficients of outsoles, thickness of soles, upper materials and linings.
